1. Document their work using appropriate conventions (MLA).
  2. Control sentence-level error (grammar, punctuation, and spelling).

Learning Outcome C:

Throughout the semester I had a lot of practice citing sources according to MLA format. While using “Little Seagull” as a guideline I was able to improve my citation skills and develop a better understanding of the proper method. In my social media essay I uses quotes from various sources and needed to use in-text citations as well as create a works cited page. In the sentence “A majority of “teens today go online to socialize with friends they know from physical settings and to portray themselves in online contexts that are more tightly wedded to unmediated social communities” (boyd 38).”  I took a quote I thought was useful to the argument of my essay and followed the MLA rules to correctly citing an article. I cited the author’s last name and the page number I took the quote from. Also, I had a few spelling errors in my essay. In the sentence “Creating multiple social media profiles as an escape from real like interactions and problems can be detrimental to the overall self image of those trying to express or find their true selves.” I received a comment asking if I meant “life” instead of “like”. I easily was able to change the incorrect word to the appropriate word.
